In the West Point area of Monrovia, a small fishing fleet bobs on the sea. The water is full of rubbish and detritus from the squatter housing that crushes in on itself as people fight for space on reclaimed land.

Anthony Gormley, http://www.antonygormley.com/, has an art installation in central London. I heard about it but found it by accident walking across Waterloo Bridge where one of the statues is placed on the pavement. If you look up you can see the figures, modelled on Gormley himself, on the edges of surrounding buildings- remarkable. If you're in London, look up, the first story and above is a welcome break from the mayhem on the street.

Surveying a partially construction gravel road I was struck by the beauty of this place near Arugam Bay in the south east of Sri Lanka. Down on the beach you can see partially constructed houses, newly being built after the tsunami of 2004.
